On the afternoon of Sep tember 7, 2022, Kenneth “Ken” Luke Garcia passed away peacefully at Columbine Manor Care Center in Salida, CO. He spent his final years near his older brother and was visited often by family and friends. Affectionately known to all at Columbine as simply Kenny, he was a well loved staff favorite. Ken was 71 years old.

Ken was born February 3, 1951 to Elvira and Anastacio Garcia in Las Animas, CO. He was known throughout his high school years for his athleticism. There were only a few who could match his abilities in football, basketball and baseball. He spent his life working as a concrete mason and owned a concrete business for several years. He is remembered for his kind and yet mischievous nature. He enjoyed old westerns, hunting, bowling and watching Broncos football. He was preceded in death by his father, Anastacio, his mother, Elvira, step father Doyle Elyea and his former wife, Tammy Cunningham. He is survived by his daughter, Sabrina, his brother Jerry, his niece Jen Dawson, as well as several cousins and aunts.

A graveside service will be held October 15, 2022 at the Las Animas Cemetery, 28082 County Road 10.75, Las Animas, CO at 11am. A celebration of his life will be held afterwards at the Bent County Community Center, 1214 Ambassador Thompson Blvd. in Las Animas.
