This year's Bent County Fair is adding a car show and swap meet to their list of activities.

This year's Bent County Fair will feature horsepower in the arena and on the football field. The fair board is adding a car show and swap meet to their list of activities. They have teamed up with Doug and Missy Ricken of Wheels Ablaze Muscle Car Ministry to provide a fun-filled afternoon of family activities at the Las Animas football field and has extended the invite to the entire Bent County community.

On Saturday, July 30, from 2 to 6 p.m. the show will be open to cars, pickups, motorcycles, bicycles, tractors and model cars. Free entrant registration will be at 1 p.m. Vendors and swap meet participants are asked to preregister before the day of the show, if possible. Cost is $10 per spot, with each one receiving a meal ticket for the BBQ.

The music will be provided by the band Backfire, a collaboration of extremely talented musicians from Fort Lyon, whose variety of music includes classic rock, oldies, country and contemporary Christian.

The first 50 car show entries will receive a welcome bag filled with discounts, coupons and goodies from local merchants. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the day, and cash prizes will be awarded to winning entries.

The evening will conclude with a delicious BBQ from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the fairgrounds. Cost per ticket is $10 for ages 12 and up, and $5 for children under 12.

The Bent County Democrat will keep you up to date with all of the show events planned for the day. If you have any questions,or to preregister, call Doug at (719) 940-0780 or Missy at (719) 940-0096.
