The Trojan track and field squad has been busy the past couple of weeks logging multiple meets, and several hundred miles by bus. This past week wound down the craziness of the last two as they only loaded the bus once to travel to Rye in order to make up the Santa Fe League track meet.

With scares of weather, the Trojans took off anyway for a beautiful, albeit windy day in Rye. The wind hurt several of the runners striving for PRs and possible state qualifying times, but Ashlie Stwalley thrived in the wind in her 300M Hurdle event as she took nearly two seconds off of her best time to run a tremendous 57.2. Gayle Boyd also PRed in the Discus throwing 66'1".

On the boys' side, Derek Zook shed seven seconds off of his 800M run time to come in at 2:53 and also added a foot to his shot put to throw at 26'5".

This week has the Trojans traveling to Burlington Friday for their final regular season meet. If no one scores in the state top 25 of their events, this will be the final meet of the season. As always, there are loop holes to this rule, but athletes should run hard and train harder this week to prepare for what could be their last chance.
