Three Las Animas high school youths, all of whom are Trojans football players, are being recognized for their contributions to the Las Animas Urban Renewal Authority walkway project.

Diego Hernandez, Jake Davis and Eloy Lopez provided volunteer labor in redoing the walkway parallel to U.S. 50 on the north side of the high school football field.

The community project, which was undertaken earlier in the season, included volunteer time from Las Animas Mayor Jim Collins. The mayor operated the skid-steer for two days, and Bent County provided the materials and delivered them. In addition, the Las Animas Public Works Department came with loaders, trucks and street sweepers to help as the three high school students supplied the manual labor.
