Carrie Holm says the the Relay for Life preparations are full steam ahead. The event has been moved to Saturday and Sunday, June 11 and 12, this year, because of multiple conflicts in July last year. The dinner for survivors will start with registration at Swink High School at 5 p.m. on June 11. Survivors' dinner will follow.

Raffle tickets available for a bundle of beef, value $125; Victoria's Secret Gift Card, $100; two On Point Ink gift cards, $150 each; Sweet Indulgent Creations Cake, $250; basket of beauty products, $1,000. Also available to support the cause and honor loved ones are the luminary bags for $5. Sonic community cards and curb painting are each available for $5. Ribbon patches are $10 each and lanyards for tracking laps walked are $3 each. A silent auction with about 200 items is scheduled for the relay.

Entertainment is available in the form of a carnival for kids with games 25 cents each or six for one dollar. More prizes are still needed for the carnival. The event goes all night, as usual, 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., ending in the Swink Lions breakfast on Sunday morning. Concession stand will be open during and before the relay.

The event takes place at the Swink High School track, located at 610 Columbia Ave. in Swink. The public is welcome, to observe or to walk the relay, which is led by groups of cancer survivors, heralded by the American Legion Color Guard and the "Star Spangled Banner."
