"Ordinary Days" opens at Picketwire Center for the Performing and Visual Arts on Thursday Aug. 11. The enthusiasm of first-time director Sarah Carson has brought this bonus production to Picketwire audiences for a second summer musical.

Joining Sarah on this adventure are veteran Picketwire Players. Four of which are Mickie Award winners, a couple have multiple awards.

Brenda Erwin is the assistant director and production manager. Brenda has been involved with nearly every production on and off the stage for the past decade. She may be best known for her comedic timing, but what many may not know is that most directors will not trust anyone else as their stage manager.

Dawn Pollmiller (Claire) is a veteran Picketwire actress with dozens of productions. She has stopped many a show with her strong, passionate singing. She brought people to tears when she sang “When You Walk Through a Storm” from “Carousel” and agonized over her dying daughter in “Steel Magnolias.” Adam Gwon’s score for “Ordinary Days” brings Dawn another show stopper when she sings “I’ll Be Here.”

Tom Seaba (Jason) is a Picketwire audience favorite. He can make you laugh till your stomach aches and bring you to tears with his dramatic interpretation of such classics as “Of Mice and Men.” He played Javert, an unsympathetic police inspector in “Les Miserables,” a crooked policeman in “Urinetown” and a crooked producer in “The Producers.”

Alex Sonnier (Deb) is well known to audiences from the Children’s Theatre of La Junta and La Junta High School productions. She played Annie, Bagheera in “Jungle Book,” the genie in “Aladdin,” Annie Sullivan in “The Miracle Worker” and gave a spell-binding performance in “Aida.” Most recently, she was the narrator in Picketwire’s “Into the Woods.”

Levi Grimlund (Warren) has one of the great, young voices that can break your heart or inspire you as the student leader in “Les Miserables” or a young boy who tries to save his family and his town as Jack in “Into the Woods.”

The musical duo of Sally Kappel and Michael Rees is everyone’s dream musician team. Sally has been banging out musical tunes on her piano for Picketwire since Picketwire was created in 1968. Michael has participated in several Picketwire productions including “Nine to Five” and “Into the Woods.”
