She also enjoyed cooking a variety of Mexican dishes. The most treasured hats that Elsie ever wore, were those of wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Louis (Lucy) Alvarez Jr. of Lawton, Oklahoma, Janet Alvarez of Las Animas, Colorado, Rick (Louise) Alvarez of Pueblo, Colorado, and Roman Alvarez of Las Animas, Colorado; sister, Josie Marquez of Michigan; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Juanita (Bustamonte) Martinez; infant daughter, Juanita Moreland; six brothers, three sisters; and ex-husbands, Louis Alvarez Sr. and George Moreland.
