BENT'S FORT CHAPTER MEETS: We were honored to host the Bent's Fort Chapter of the Santa Fe Trail annual meeting this past Saturday. Over 50 people enjoyed a special presentation by Sandy Dexter, nationally published author, who presented a talk titled, "Walking Woman: Amache Ochinee Prowers,"? the Cheyenne wife of John Wesley Prowers. It was a fascinating presentation!

BENT COUNTY ART GUILD: Saturday, Nov. 19th, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. the Art Guild and Quilting Club will be hosting a Quilting Bee in the Grand Hall at John W. Rawlings Heritage Center. Social Services has given away eight quilts that were made last year, and the children who received them were very appreciative! All the materials and supplies used to make these quilts are donated by generous community members. Stop by and help us "sew a little love" into these quilts for those who need a special hug.

CHRISTMAS AT THE MUSEUM: This annual fundraising event will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. This year we will be celebrating at the museum and Boggsville; lunch and activities will take place at the museum, and around 4 p.m. we will all move to Boggsville for decorating a tree, Christmas carols, hot chocolate and cider. More information will be coming out soon, watch for it! You won't want to miss all the fun!

SANTA DISPLAY: Tuesday, Nov. 15, we began accepting Santas for our Santa display in the Grand Hall. Please bring your Santa by and tell us the story behind how it came into your family and holiday tradition. We will be accepting Santas throughout the holiday season.

BOGGSVILLE: Enjoy this beautiful weather by talking an afternoon walk at Bent County's very own National Treasure: Boggsville. The atmosphere is special, no matter the time of year. Boggsville will re-open in the spring.

OLD TRAIL ART GALLERY & GIFT SHOP: Haven't started your Christmas shopping yet? Still looking for that special gift for the history buff in your family? Stop by the Old Trail Gallery and pick up a special book or gift. There is no admission charge for shopping and browsing. Stop in and check out the talents of our local artists and pick up a book regarding our local history to read!

SILENT AUCTION: CREAM SEPARATOR BIDDING TO END DEC. 10: We have a new adventure that we are embarking on; occasionally we will feature a duplicate item we have here at the Museum, if you are interested in that item, stop by and check it out. RADIO LAS ANIMAS: KKRV 107.3 Las Animas has a live show every Monday morning at 6:30 a.m.; listen for information on all of our upcoming events, or stop by the studio at the Chamber of Commerce Office (702 Grove Ave.). MUSEUM HOURS and ADMISSION: We will be closed Nov. 24 for Thanksgiving. Normal hours are Tuesdays, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.; Wednesday through Saturday 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. Admission: Adults $5; Youth (6-12) $4; under 6 and active military FREE! Tours can be scheduled during business hours, or afterward; just give us a call at (719) 456-6066.
