The Las Animas Trojans finished their season on the gridiron this weekend as they hosted dominant foes, the Holly Wildcats.
The Trojans, plagued by absences due to the FFA National Convention, suited a mere nine players against the Wildcats, and truly showed their mettle.
In the first half, the Trojans held the Wildcats to only 14 points, and at the end of the half, were knocking within the red zone, but a pair of offside penalties took them out of scoring range, and they went to the locker room down 0-14.
In the second half, the Wildcats scored 35 more points to win 49-0.
The Trojans ended the season with a 1-8 record, but are showing promise. With a strong core of juniors, and a team that graduates zero seniors, the Trojans will be stronger next year and look to avenge some of their losses this year.
