Candidate for Otero County Commissioner Ward 2
John V. Hostetler of Swink has announced his candidacy for Otero County Commissioner in District 2. Hostetler has lived in Otero County since 1963. He is a graduate of La Junta High School and has attended Otero Junior College. He has two children and five grandchildren.
Hostetler served six years in the Colorado National Guard and retired from the local gas company after a 42-year career. He also served 26 years on the South Swink Water Company including 10 years as the president. He is a twenty-year member of the National Association of Corrosion Engineers.
Hostetler is a member of the Swink United Methodist Church as well as a member of the La Junta Senior Citizen Center; he also volunteers at Jay’s Christmas Dinner. He is a lifetime member of the NRA as well as a lifetime member of the La Junta Elks Club #701.
Hostetler has never held public office but has had a long-time desire to serve and give back to the community that has supported him over the years. He believes he brings considerable knowledge to the position that would be beneficial to the county and the board. He also believes that as a retired person he can devote plenty of time to the office of County Commissioner.
