The Colorado Spring weather postponed all of the athletic events this week; however, Las Animas’s prom and post-prom went off without a hitch.

This year’s theme, “A Night in Hollywood,” stretched across town with the prom hosted in the high school cafeteria and post-prom activities in the elementary school.

The students filed in to the elementary school after changing from their prom attire and participated in a variety of activities from the hours of 12 - 3 a.m. All activities culminated in drawings for gift baskets named after popular movies and a grand prize of a 30” TV.

Throughout the night, students participated in games like a pie-eating contest or dodge ball and competed for prizes such as candy, raffle tickets, or movies. There were also inflatable activities such as jousting, boxing, and soccer.

When students got hungry, there was a variety of food provided by the post-prom committee as well as a plethora of caffeinated beverages, presumably for the volunteers who were all up far past their bedtime.

A big thank-you from the post-prom committee to those who donated to the evening, and a major props to the committee for pulling together a wonderful evening for the prom-goers.
