COLORADO SPRINGS — The La Junta Tigersharks youth swimming team wrapped up the season at the Scottie Aschermann Memorial seasonal club championships (state meet), which took place Aug. 3-5 at the Pikes Peaks Athletics Training Center.
The Tigersharks took first place in Division III, which comprises the smallest teams.
Eleven of the 23 state qualifiers scored points in their respective age division.
There were three scorers in the girls' 8-and-younger division, with Kaydence Sisneros finishing third with 62 total points. Gabriella Torrez was 17th with nine points and Kolbi Engebrecht tied for 26th with a half-point.
Brylee Gearhart tied for 23rd in the girls' 9-10-year-old division with two points.
In boys' competition, Jeremiah Barber placed third in the 15-18 division with 109 points.
Walker Balicki was 11th in the 13-14 division with 37 points.
There were three scorers in the 11-12 division. Ayden Sisneros was sixth with 75 points, Duncan Balicki was seventh with 69 1/2 and Rylan Schmidt tied for 27th with two points.
Christian Smith Pumalpa was 13th in the 9-10 division with 28 points.
Rylan Schmidt was 20th in the 8-and-younger division with one point.
Rocky Ford Blue Marlins
Nine members of the Rocky Ford Blue Marlins scored at the seasonal meet.
For the girls' swimmers, Gracie Moreland was ninth in the 15-18 division with 66 points, Maddie Fluke was 12th in the 13-14 division with 39 points, Teagan Mendoza-Werner tied for 17th in the 15-18 division with 21 points, Larriana Taggart tied for 18th in the 9-10 division with six points, Torrin Mendoza-Werner was 20th in the 13-14 division with 13 points, and Claire Emick tied for 25th in the 11-12 division with two points.
Blue Marlin boys swimmers who scored included Bruley McCuistion 10th in the 9-10 division with 37 points, Braeden Harris 17th in the 13-14 division with 17 points, and Hagen McCuistion 30th in the 11-12 division with one point.
Las Animas Trofins
Five members of the Las Animaas Trofins were scorers at the meet.
Among girls swimmers, Grace Gardner was fourth in the 11-12 division with 107 points, Kinley Reyher was 15th in the 8-and-younger division with 11 points, Morgan Dowell was 15th in the 13-14 division with 20 points, and Madison Stuart tied for 23rd in the 11-12 division with three points.
Cody Netherton was the only member of the boys' team to score as he tied for 27th in the 11-12 division with two points.
