The schedules for the Class 1A District volleyball Tournaments were announced on Monday.
Class 1A District 2
The Cheraw and McClave high school volleyball teams will compete in the Class 1A District 2 Tournament, which will take place Friday at the Lamar Community College Wellness Center beginning at 9 a.m.
Both the Lady Wolverines and the Lady Cardinals will be in the same pool, which will take place on the west court. Fifth-seeded Cheraw and second-seeded McClave will play each other at 9 a.m., followed by Cheraw against third-seeded Cheyenne Wells. McClave and Cheyenne Wells will play in the final match of pool play.
The other pool will be on the east court. Kit Carson is the top seed and it will play sixth-seeded Granada at 9 a.m. Fourth-seeded Eads will play Granada following that match, and then Kit Carson will play Eads.
The top team in each pool will play each other for the championship, while the No. 2 teams in each pool will play for third place.
The Top three teams will advance to regional action next week.
Class 1A District 3
The Kim/Branson co-op volleyball team will be at the Class 1A District 3 Tournament.
The Lady Mustangs, the fifth seed, will play fourth-seeded South Baca today beginning at 5 p.m. in Pritchett. The winner advances to the Final Four, which will take place Saturday also at the LCC Wellness Center.
The rest of the field includes top-seeded Walsh, second-seeded Wiley and third-seeded Springfield.
Wiley and Springfield will play in the first match at 10 a.m. The next match will be the winner of the South Baca-Kim/Branson match against Walsh, followed by either Kim/Branson or South Baca against Wiley. The fourth match will be between Walsh and Springfield. Either Kim/Branson or South Baca will then play Springfield and the final match is between Walsh and Wiley.
The top three teams will be in regional action next weekend.
Class 1A District 6
The Class 1A District Tournament began Monday with pigtail matches. Tenth-seeded Centennial played at seventh-seeded Antonito, and ninth-seeded Primero played at eighth-seeded Mountain Valley. Scores were not available as of this morning.
Manzanola High School will be in action today at 5:30 p.m. at Cotopaxi.
The rest of the second-round matches will have the lowest remaining pigtail seed at top-seeded La Veta and the highest remaining team at second-seeded Sangre de Cristo. Fifth-seeded Sierra Grande will play at fourth-seeded Creede.
The final four teams will in in pool play on Friday beginning at 10 a.m. at Sierra Grande High School in Blanca.
Like the other two regions, the top three teams will play in regional action next week.
