An April 4 round table community meeting here focused on how to attract new businesses and how citizens can get involved to help the community.

Hosted by Sammie George, executive director of Bent County Development Foundation, participants listed several things they'd like to see in the community. Those ideads included an arcade with electronic games, a paint workshop, farmer’s market, mental health counseling and health specialists, a bowling alley, biking trails, walking trails, go-carts and a place for youths to hang out.

Participants also learned that several groups could use volunteers. Organizations listed included Helping Hands, the museum, Boggsville, Las Animas Schools and community cleanup projects.

About 25 citizens and local officials attended the meeting.
