The Las Animas High School baseball team lost to Swink 2-1 in the Class 2A Region 6 playoffs last week, ending its season.
The Trojans finished 3-17 overall and 1-7 in league play.
The teams scored a run apiece in the second inning. The Lions broke the tie in the fourth and held on to win the game.
With two runners in scoring position and one out, Trojans senior Devin Frazier hit a towering shot to the warning track in the bottom of the seventh inning. The ball was caught by a Swink outfielder. The next batter popped up to short to end the game and consequently, the Trojans the season.
Six Trojans held batting averages over .300. Sophomore Joe Hawkins hit .485.
Frazier led the way on the mound, recording 45 strikeouts over 30 innings pitched.
