The Fourth Annual Boggsville Cemetery Tours will be held on May 24 starting at Boggsville. The first wagon tour will leave Boggsville at 2 p.m. and every 30 minutes thereafter until 4:30 p.m. Visitors will enjoy riding horse-drawn wagons to the Bent County/Las Animas Cemetery. Actors will perform characters that lived and died in Bent County throughout the cemetery.
The characters this year will be Amache Prowers, Thomas “Frank” Dean, Franc Leedham, C. W. Hurd, Casto Dunavin, and William “Bill” Stephens.
This event is co-sponsored by PEO and Boggsville.
Cost is $10 per adult, $5 for children 12 and under, and children under 6 enter for free. Refreshments will be provided by PEO at Boggsville.
Come hear the stories of the people who settled Bent County. Learn about their lives, their hardships, their tragedies, their successes as they scratched out a living in the 1800 – early 1900s.
