The Fourth Annual Arkansas Valley Fair Youth Rodeo took place last weekend in Rocky Ford with several local performers participating.
There was a separate rodeo on both Saturday and Sunday. Tiny tot boys and girls were in the same division.
The all-around winners on Saturday included a tie in the senior boys division. Matthew Doherty of Branson was one of the winners along with Cinch Bullock.
Bullock and Doherty won dally ribbon roping in 15.240 seconds, and Bullock and Bryson Carroll of Swink won team roping in 16.309.
Other Saturday all-around champion included Jolie Bond of Rocky Ford in the senior girls division, Dylan Gugelmeyer of Laken, Kan., in the junior boys, Emilee Carroll of Swink in the junior girls, and Reagan Koontz of Des Moines, N.M., in the tiny tots.
There were only two events in the senior boys on Saturday that had a winner. Bob Walter of Model won bareback riding with 54 points, and Grady Carroll of Trinidad won tie-down roping in 18.193 seconds.
There were no qualified rides in bull riding and no times in steer wrestling.
The senior girls event winners were Paige Eaks of Pueblo West in goat tying in 8.78 seconds, Brayleigh McGinley of Kismet, Kan., in pole bending in 21.843, Ashton Elliot of Kim in barrel racing in 19.784, and Jacobi Larson of Fowler in breakaway roping in 4.430.
In addition to winning the junior boys all-around title on Saturday, Gugelmeyer also won chute dogging in 16.50 seconds.
Also winning events among the junior boys were Waitley Sharon of Ordway in saddle bronc steer riding with 69 points and Jeffrey Baggs in bull riding with 55 points.
In timed events in the junior boys age group were Traven Sharon of Ordway in goat tying in 9.758 seconds, Maverick Barratt of La Junta in flag racing in 8.360, and Jaytyn Hash of Kendall, Kan., in breakaway roping in 2.391.
Emilee Carroll, the junior girls all-around champion on Saturday also won breakaway roping in 4.468 seconds.
Kaysen DeVaughan of Moscow, Kan., won two events. She won pole bending in 22.418 and barrel racing in 20.581
Delaney Brown of Rocky Ford won goat tying in 9.393 seconds.
In team events in the junior division, Hash and Gugelmeyer won dally ribbon roping in 13.960, and Blevyns and Byars Brown, both of Ordway, won team roping in 23.289.
Bristyl Barratt of La Junta won two tiny tot events. She took goat tying in 11.11 seconds and barrel racing in 19.845. Also winning were Reini Koontz of Des Moines, N.M., in pole bending in 23.376, and Avery Draper of Wetmore in flag racing in 9.887.
The Sunday all-around winners included Jaylyn Hash of Kendall, Kan., in the senior boys, Larson in the senior girls, Jaytyn Hash in the junior boys and DeVaughan in the junior girls. There was a tie in the tiny tots with Bristyl Barratt and Chisum Draper of Wetmore sharing the honors.
Jaylyn Hash won two events en route to the Sunday all-around title. He won steer wrestling in 12.211 and tie-down roping in 10.50.
Walter won bull riding with 50 points. However, there were no qualified rides in bareback riding.
Larson won two senior girls events on Sunday. She won pole bending in 20.931 and breakaway roping in 3.32.
Eaks again won goat tying, this time in 9.07 seconds. Talara Nittler of Kim was the barrel racing winner in 19.317 seconds.
Bullock and Carroll again won team roping in 15.55. Sage Bader of Kim and McGinley won dally ribbon roping in 14.60.
The younger Hash brother, Jaytyn, also won chute dogging in the junior division in 7.50 seconds.
Waitley Sharon won saddle bronc steer riding with 61 points and Brander Nichols of Las Animas won bull riding with 84.
Traven Sharon won two events on Sunday. He won goat tying in 11.68 and breakaway roping in 4.723. Maverick Barratt again won the flag race in 7.931.
DeVaughan, in addition to winning the Sunday junior girls all-around championship, also won pole bending in 22.080.
Emilee Carroll won two events. She was the winner of goat tying in 12.73 seconds and barrel racing in 20.566.
There were no qualified times in breakaway roping.
Jaytyn Hash and Gugelmeyer were the winners of Sunday's junior dally ribbon roping in 12.99 seconds. There were no times in team roping.
Bristyl Barratt won three events in the Sunday tiny tot division. She won goat tying in 11.19, flag racing in 8.617 and barrel racing in 19.396.
Reagan Koontz won pole bending in 21.681 seconds.
The CPRA rodeo is this weekend.
The Arkansas Valley Fair's CPRA rodeo will take place this weekend also in Rocky Ford.
The first performance is Friday at 7 p.m. The slack is Saturday morning at 8 a.m. and the final performance is Saturday at 1 p.m.
