Six elected seats are up for grabs this November and with election day only two months away, the field for Las Animas City Council is set.

The race for mayor will be between three people: Jim Collins, Kirby Ladner and Louella Cruz. Ward 1 will be a two-horse race with Robert Smith and Rose Prichard in the running.

The contenders for Ward 2 are Jaxson Meardon and Terri Kim. Ward 3 candidates include Cassandra Torres-Siefkis and Kimberlie King. Charmaine Tripp will be running unopposed for City Clerk. Rounding out the field will be the candidates for Light and Power, Roberto Montoya and William Deal.

There might be a question on the ballot about the marijuana tax, but nothing definite so far.
