A homecoming fit for Hollywood. This week, Las Animas High School celebrates homecoming with a week full of different dress-up days, an assembly, sporting events and much more.
With the start of the new week, festivities began with the first of many different dress-up days — Oscar’s (PJ) day. This was followed by Twin Tuesday; Celebrity Day on Wednesday; Cartoon Day on Thursday; concluding with Blue and White Day on Friday.
On Monday, the high school boys held their volleyball game, which was followed by the powder-puff football game.
The Lady Trojans will look to tame the Lions Thursday evening as they take on Swink in their homecoming game. which is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. Following the game will be the burning of the LA.
Friday will be the busiest day of the week as the Homecoming Pep Assembly, which will include all grade levels, is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Following the assembly at 2 p.m., the float decorating is scheduled to start.
The homecoming parade is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. on Poplar and going South on 6 Street. The route then will take the parade east up 6 Street turning on Carson and then taking it down 3 Street back to the high school. Following the parade, the Las Animas-Bent County Chamber will host a tailgate at the football field scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
To end the week of school pride, the Trojan football team will face off against the McClave Cardinals with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. Senior royalty will be crowned after the games conclusion, as well as the prince and princess from the homecoming class reps.
After the coronation, a homecoming dance is scheduled to take place on the field following the festivities.
