The International Relations Office at Otero Junior College will host their 25th Annual International Food Night on Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. in the Rizzuto Banquet Room in the Student Center. The event is a primary source of funding for scholarships awarded to international students.

“As this year is the 25th anniversary, we are hoping to bring the community something very special,” said Chellie Wallace, international relations director.  According to Wallace the International Office is working on a cookbook that highlights the tastes of the past that will be available for purchase. At a silent auction guests will have the opportunity to bid on dinners prepared and hosted by current students.  “We will have many wonderful baskets from friends throughout the community, and are working on performances that I know that people will definitely enjoy,” said Wallace.

Dinner will be catered by Sodexo and provides a wide variety of foods to represent many of the home countries of OJC students. This year’s menu will feature:

Appetizers: Brazil:  Fried Polenta
Japan:  Gyoza
Portugal:  Stuffed egg with shrimp
Main Dishes: Caribbean:  Jerk Chicken with rice
Australia:  Meat Pie
Costa Rica:  Tamale
Desserts: South Africa:  Cinnamon Milk Tart
Germany:  Graham Streusel Coffee Cake
New Zealand:  Pavlova

Tickets for this event are $35 each, or $250 for a table of 8. A limited number of seats are still available for the event; those interested in registering can do so at https://www.ojc.edu/about/newsevents/ojcevents/internationalfood/intfoodreg.aspx.
According to Wallace, a waitlist will be kept once tickets are sold out in case of any cancelations. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. and the dinner will begin at 7:00 p.m.
