The Las Animas Lady Trojans had a big week back to school. Not only did they have to get back to the grind of school, they had two big conference games to prepare for.

The first was against rival Swink Lions and the second was against Crowley County.

The Lady Trojans struggled in the first quarter to get the ball in the basket as they only scored 1 to the Lady Lions’ 11. From there, it was essentially Swink’s game as it pulled away to win 58-20 over Las Animas.

Shelby Eck and Ally Magana each had 6 to lead the Lady Trojans.

The next night at home against the Lady Chargers, the Lady Trojans kept a much closer game.

The Ladies amassed 9 points in the first to remain within 4 points, but the Lady Chargers poured it on in the second to end the half with a 31-15 lead. Las Animas didn’t quit, battling through the second half to outscore Crowley County in each quarter, but it wasn’t enough to earn the victory as the Lady Chargers ended with a 40-26 win.

This week the Lady Trojans travel to Rocky Ford on Thursday for a 5 p.m. start, and then travel to Holly on Friday for a 5 p.m. start.
