The Trojan Wrestlers hosted a Tri on Thursday night with Holly and Dolores Huerta Prep (DHPH) out of Pueblo, and then traveled to Stratton on Saturday for the annual Stratton Invitational.

At home against Holly on Thursday, the Trojans wrestled Jordan Anaya at 126s and he won, Randon Nickel at 120s and he lost, and Kolby Wolf at 138s and he lost as well.

Against DHPH, Anaya received a forfeit, Nickel lost by fall, and Wolf lost by fall as well.

In Stratton, the Trojans wrestled three: Kolby Wolf, Alex Torres, and Jordan Anaya.

At 126 lbs, Wolf lost the first match by forfeit, and the second by injury.

Torres won by fall at 1:36 in his first match, by forfeit in his second match, lost by a 13-0 major decision in his third, and lost a 26-16 decision in his final match.

Anaya wrestled the most on Saturday and had the most success. He began with a pin at 1:16, then lost by pin at 4:40, and in his third and fourth won by fall and by decision. In his final match, Anaya lost by a 14-0 major decision.

This week is Winter Sports week for the Trojans. In addition to some comfy dress-up days, all sports teams will take the mat/floor on Thursday with a final schedule to be determined. The Trojan varsity wrestlers will wrestle against the John Mall Panthers, and then all basketball teams will face the Panthers as well. Events begin at 4:30 on February 6. The Trojans also travel to Ordway on February 8 for the Charger Invitational. This will be the Trojans’ last match before Regionals on Feb. 14.
