The Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary is proud to announce that Bill Lewis has been selected for the “Fly the Flag” award. He is a Korean War veteran and is proud to fly his flag daily.

Lewis stated he was honored to be in the service and has always been proud to be an American.

Lewis served in the Air Force as a communications operator and was stationed in Japan during his service. He has been a life-long resident of Las Animas and he and his wife, Sue, whom he lost last year, have three children: Gina in Canon City; Suzette (Steve) Eck and Ray (Debbie) Lewis, both of Las Animas.

Lewis retired from the Colorado Department of Transportation and also owned the local car wash for over 30 years. He is proud of his four grandsons and would enjoy visiting anyone that stopped by to see him at Prairie View Village.
