The Hornet Invite softball tournament took place over the weekend with four local teams in the 12-team field: Pueblo West, Pueblo Centennial, Pueblo County and Dolores Huerta Prep.
The Cyclones dominated in pool play with wins over Canon City, 12-4, and Lamar, 7-3.
In the championship bracket on Saturday, Pueblo West took care of Falcon 10-2, setting up a matchup with 9-0 Mesa Ridge for the title.
Tied at three going into the sixth inning, the Cyclones scored two runs in the top of the inning and held the Grizzlies off the board to win the game after the time limit was reached following the bottom half.
The win put the Cyclones at 8-0 and they are now 9-0 after picking up a league win Monday over Pueblo County 6-1.
The Hornets won their pool on Friday with wins over La Junta and Cheyenne Mountain, but had an 0-2 day on Saturday with a 7-6 loss to Mesa Ridge and 9-5 defeat to Falcon.
Pueblo Centennial struggled with two losses in pool play to Coronado and Falcon and another loss on Saturday to La Junta. The Bulldogs got into the win column with a 15-0 win over Dolores Huerta Prep.
The Class 3A Scorpions went 0-4 in the tournament.
