Las Animas High School's Shelby Eck named a Daniels Scholar
Las Animas High School senior Shelby Eck has been named a 2021 Daniels Scholarship winner.
Eck was one of 240 students from Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming to earn the scholarship. The finalists for the awards were named earlier this year, and winners were informed by mail on March 12.
Eck is the daughter of Julie and Darren Eck. She plans to pursue a bachelor's degree in wildlife management in college. She plans to attend either Oklahoma Panhandle State University or start off at Otero Junior College and transfer to OPSU.
The Daniels Fund was established by cable television pioneer Bill Daniels. It is a private charitable foundation dedicated to making life better for the people of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming through its grants program, scholarship program and ethics initiative.
There are approximately 4,600 students who have received the Daniels Scholarship.
Since 2000, more than $220 million in scholarships have been awarded through the Daniels Scholarship Program.
