Cheraw volleyball returns experienced lineup for 2021 season

Last season, the Cheraw High School volleyball team went 12-12. However, the Wolverines had a successful postseason as they advanced to regional action.
"Last season making regionals was a big accomplishment for these girls, but they aren't satisfied with that," said Cheraw coach Kassidy Froese. "They have been lifting and working hard in the gym since the season ended, even during COVID, to get better."
The good news for the Wolverines is that they return all seven of their players from 2019.
Returning are first team All-High Plains League players Heaven-lee Marquez and Morgan McReynolds, as well as Idaly Lopez, who was a second-team selection.
Cheraw also has a good group of incoming players who should help.
"We have a group of strong incoming freshmen that will also compliment our team very well this year," Froese said.
Before looking forward to a postseason run, the Wolverines will have to contend with a tough regular season schedule, including a very strong High Plains League.
"The girls are excited to have a season and to be able to compete," Froese said. "Our motto for this year is 'Accept the Challenge' and with everything that has happened with COVID, I would say this is appropriate. With a shortened season, we know every game matters and they are ready to compete every game and 'accept that challenge.'"
