Swink drops to eighth in Colorado Class 2A baseball poll

The Colorado High School Activities Association released its weekly coaches polls on Monday. The polls are posted on the CHSAANow.com web site.

In Class 2A baseball, Swink fell from sixth to eighth. One other Santa Fe League team, Rye, dropped from eighth to ninth.

The Tri-Peaks League, which has Class 3A and 2A schools in it this year, has St. Mary's remaining in the No. 7 position.

Peyton is the top-ranked team, followed by Hotchkiss, Limon, Cedaredge, Wray, Highland, St. Mary's, Swink, Rye and Calhan.

Another SFL team, Fowler, and another T-PL team, Buena Vista, are listed as "others receiving votes." Also on the list are Dawson School, Yuma, Lyons, Burlington, Front Range Christian, Meeker, Byers, Clear Creek, Estes Park, Buena Vista, Ignacio and Monte Vista.

In Class 3A, Eaton is at the top of the rankings, followed by University, Lutheran, Faith Christian, Sterling, Resurrection Christian, Brush, Delta, Alamosa and Kent Denver.

La Junta, Lamar, Salida and Manitou Springs are Tri-Peaks teams mentioned as "others receiving votes," as are Bennett, Colorado Academy, Montezuma-Cortez, Bayfield, Pagosa Springs, Gunnison, Bishop Machebeuf, The Academy, Aspen, Strasburg, Berthoud, Moffat County and Middle Park.

Class 1A has a new No. 1-ranked team as Holly, representing District 4, rose from second to first. Three other district teams are also ranked as Eads rose from seventh to third, Cheyenne Wells rose from 10th to sixth, and Stratton/Liberty enters the poll at No. 10.

Following Holly are Flatirons Academy, Eads, Nucla, Merino, Cheyenne Wells, Evangelical Christian, Caliche, Haxtun and Stratton/Liberty.

Granada and Springfield are District 4 teams listed as "others receiving votes." Also on the list are Dove Creek, Otis, Dayspring Christian, Cotopaxi, Rocky Mountain Lutheran and Elbert.

In other polls, Regis Jesuit remains at the top of the Class 5A rankings, and Cheyenne Mountain remained No. 1 in Class 4A.
